Report: Manchester clubs interested in Espanyol left-back Aaron Martin

Manchester City and Manchester United are interested in Espanyol left-back Aaron Martin, according to reports.

Manchester City and Manchester United have expressed an interest in Espanyol left-back Aaron Martin, according to reports.

Since making his La Liga debut in September last year, the 20-year-old has become a key player for Los Periquitos, racking up 39 appearances thus far.

According to the Daily Mail, City scouts were in attendance at the Cornella-El Prat on Friday to watch Martin in action against Levante, a match which finished goalless.

The report suggests that Martin was on City's radar during the summer and that he will be a transfer target for Pep Guardiola's side in the wake of Benjamin Mendy's injury.

However, it is also believed that United are monitoring the Spain Under-21 player, with Luke Shaw still hampered with injury problems at Old Trafford.
