Jamie Carragher tells a Manchester United fan that Jose Mourinho's rumoured move to Old Trafford is "not happening".

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has told a Manchester United supporter that Jose Mourinho will not take over at Old Trafford.

The ex-Chelsea boss has been widely linked to the position, despite Louis van Gaal still being in charge of the North-West club.

It has been reported that Mourinho could be hired in the summer, but there is still uncertainty given that Van Gaal could guide United to Champions League qualification and win the FA Cup trophy before the season is out.

On Twitter, in response to a United fan, whose profile picture is of Mourinho, Carragher wrote: "Change your profile picture it's not happening!!"

Van Gaal has one year remaining on his contract.
