The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Manchester United eye possible reinforcements.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Old Trafford.

Ed Woodward hints at no more big-money signings for Manchester United

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has suggested that the club will not be making any big-money signings before the end of this summer's transfer window.

Donny van de Beek capped his debut for the 20-time English champions with a goal against Crystal Palace on Saturday, but the Red Devils fell to a 3-1 home defeat at Old Trafford.

Jadon Sancho continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford, but it remains to be seen whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side can agree a fee with Borussia Dortmund, who are thought to want in excess of £100m.

Woodward has hinted that the financial impact of the coronavirus outbreak will make it very difficult for United to make a big-money signing in the current market.

"Disruption from the pandemic is continuing to create huge economic pressure from the top to the bottom of the football pyramid and while we are fortunate to be in a more resilient position than most clubs, we are not immune from impact," wrote Woodward in the club's programme.

As well as Sancho, United are also being linked with Porto defender Alex Telles.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has called on the club to spend money on new signings before this summer's transfer window closes for business.

The Red Devils suffered a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in their Premier League opener on Saturday night, and it was a laboured performance from the 20-time English champions.

Donny van de Beek came off the bench to score in the latter stages, but the Netherlands international is the only new signing at Old Trafford this summer.

The club's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has suggested that United will be unable to make any big-money signings before the end of the transfer window due to the financial impact of the coronavirus outbreak.

However, Solskjaer has insisted that the club must improve the squad before the October 5 deadline.

"It has hammered home that we need to improve. That is not good enough against any team in the Premier League," BBC Sport quotes the Norwegian as saying after the clash with Palace.

The Red Devils continue to be linked with Jadon Sancho, but Borussia Dortmund could allegedly demand more than £110m for the England international in the final stages of the transfer window.
