The England international has not featured on the pitch since picking up the problem during United's 2-1 defeat to Sunderland on February 13.

The striker was expected to return at the start of April, but according to The Mirror, Rooney could face a further month on the treatment table.

Despite the setback, Rooney remains on track to captain England at the European Championships in France this summer.
