Manchester United are forced to make all three of their changes in the first half of their Premier League match against Liverpool.

Manchester United have been forced to make all three of their changes in the first half of their Premier League match against Liverpool this afternoon.

The opening 45 minutes of the crucial showdown was characterised by four players suffering game-ending injuries, three of which came for United.

Ander Herrera was the first player to limp off with a hamstring problem after just 20 minutes, and Juan Mata followed him off the field just four minutes later to add to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's woes.

Mata was replaced by Jesse Lingard - himself a doubt prior to the game after picking up a hamstring injury against Paris Saint-Germain - and the sub lasted less than 20 minutes before also being forced off.

Jurgen Klopp also had to shuffle his pack in the opening 45 minutes when Roberto Firmino departed with what looked like a hamstring injury, being replaced by Daniel Sturridge.

The fitness of Marcus Rashford was a source of constant concern for United in the first half too, with the attacker not moving freely despite lasting until half time.

United become the first team to make three first-half subs in a Premier League game since January 2015, while there were four in the opening 45 minutes for the first time in 10 years.
