Premier League gameweek 22 predictions including Tottenham vs. Liverpool

Sports Mole provides score predictions for all of this weekend's Premier League matches, including Tottenham Hotspur vs. Liverpool.

Sheffield United vs. West Ham (Friday, 8pm)

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder pictured on December 5, 2019© Reuters

Sheffield United play host to West Ham United in the Premier League on Friday night having failed to win any of their last three fixtures in the top flight.

Meanwhile, David Moyes marked his return to the Hammers with a 4-0 victory over Bournemouth - a result which has kept the club out of the relegation zone.

We say: Sheffield United 1-1 West Ham United

Given the recent improvement of West Ham, we can see the visitors grinding out a result at Bramall Lane. However, the Blades are strong in front of their own supporters, and they should have enough to avoid another defeat.

Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta pictured in January 2020© Reuters

Arsenal make the short trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon knowing that victory will be enough to move ahead of their hosts in the Premier League table.

As well as having the opportunity to move four points clear of the Gunners, Palace could move into the top six if they prevail in this London derby.

We say: Crystal Palace 1-2 Arsenal

A month ago, we would have backed Palace to outwork the Gunners on the way to victory. However, with the visitors having improved since the arrival of Arteta, we feel that their superior class in the final third will prove to be the difference.

Chelsea vs. Burnley (Saturday, 3pm)

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard pictured on November 2, 2019© Reuters

Chelsea play host to Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon looking to strengthen their hold of fourth place in the standings.

Meanwhile, Burnley make the trip to Stamford Bridge having suffered three successive defeats, a run which has left them just four points above the relegation zone.

We say: Chelsea 2-1 Burnley

While Chelsea have struggled in front of their own fans this season, we feel that the success over Forest in the FA Cup can only benefit them. Burnley's work-rate will ensure that this is a hard-fought contest, but we are backing the Blues to record victory by a narrow margin.

Everton vs. Brighton (Saturday, 3pm)

Carlo Ancelotti will be desperate to see his Everton side make a return to winning ways when they meet Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Toffees were wasteful going forward during a 1-0 defeat against Liverpool's youngsters in the FA Cup last weekend, while Brighton were also dumped out of the competition following a 1-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday.

We say: Everton 1-1 Brighton & Hove Albion

This promises to be a cagey affair, with the home team expected to put on a performance and the away side set to remain solid and wait for their moment. Everton are likely to make more of the running, but there is a feeling that Brighton will find a way of staying in the game and snatching a goal of their own.

Leicester vs. Southampton (Saturday, 3pm)

Leicester City and Southampton meet in the Premier League for the first time since the latter suffered a record 9-0 defeat at the hands of the Foxes back in October.

The Saints have enjoyed a considerable spike in form since that day, while Leicester continue to confound expectations under Brendan Rodgers.

We say: Leicester City 3-1 Southampton

Southampton will no doubt make a better game of this encounter compared with last October's mauling, but the home side have far too much quality and confidence in the final third at this moment in time, meaning that a comfortable Leicester victory serves as the most likely outcome.

Man Utd vs. Norwich (Saturday, 3pm)

Marcus Rashford celebrates pulling one back during the EFL Cup game between Manchester United and Manchester City on January 7, 2020© Reuters

Manchester United will be looking to return to winning ways when they welcome struggling Norwich City to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils are without a victory in their last three matches in all competitions but are still fifth in the Premier League table and will fancy their chances of overcoming the Canaries this weekend.

We say: Manchester United 2-0 Norwich City

There is no question that Norwich are capable of harming United on Saturday afternoon, even without the presence of their leading scorer. Solskjaer's side have generally been quite strong on home soil this season, though, and we expect the Red Devils to pick up a much-needed three points.

Wolves vs. Newcastle (Saturday, 3pm)

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United head into Saturday's Premier League fixture at Molineux having suffered successive defeats.

While the West Midlands outfit have lost back-to-back league games against Liverpool and Watford respectively, the Magpies have gone three games without registering a single point.

We say: Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-1 Newcastle United

Given their respective results, we expect a tight encounter at Molineux. While both teams will fancy their chances of ending their recent poor run, we think that the two sides will cancel each other out in a low-scoring draw.

Spurs vs. Liverpool (Saturday, 5.30pm)

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho on December 26, 2019© Reuters

History beckons for Liverpool on Saturday evening as they visit Tottenham Hotspur looking to secure the best-ever start in the 131-year history of English top-flight football.

A 20th victory from their 21st game of the campaign would secure that remarkable feat, but they come up against a familiar foe in Jose Mourinho, who has spoiled the Liverpool party on more than one occasion in the past.

We say: Tottenham 0-2 Liverpool

A fully-fit Tottenham with Mourinho at the helm would be a very difficult away trip for Liverpool, and a match Spurs would be confident of getting something out of. However, the hosts are missing their captain, their main goalscorer and a host of other first-team players for the visit of a team in relentless form.

Liverpool have the chance to do something no other team in English top-flight history has ever done before on Saturday, and it is difficult to back against a team who only seem to know how to win at the moment.

Bournemouth vs. Watford (Sunday, 2pm)

Watford manager Nigel Pearson looks on on December 22, 2019© Reuters

Bournemouth play host to Watford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon needing to avoid defeat to remain ahead of the Hornets in the standings.

The Hornets make the trip to the Vitality Stadium knowing that victory will move them outside of the relegation zone for the first time this season.

We say: Bournemouth 1-2 Watford

Given their recent poor form, Bournemouth arguably need victory more than their opponents who sit below them in the table. However, we feel that Watford have the momentum heading into this contest, a factor which could make all of the difference.

Aston Villa vs. Man City (Sunday, 4.30pm)

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola pictured on January 1, 2020© Reuters

Manchester City will continue their pursuit of the top two in the Premier League table when they travel to struggling Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola's side are currently third in the division, 14 points behind leaders Liverpool, while Villa occupy 17th position, just one point clear of the relegation zone as things stand.

We say: Aston Villa 1-3 Manchester City

Villa are certainly capable of causing City problems on Sunday afternoon, but it is very difficult to back anything other than an away win. Guardiola's side were excellent at Old Trafford and should have more than enough to put another three points on the board this weekend.
