How Manchester United could line up against Norwich City

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up for Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final tie with Norwich City at Carrow Road.

Manchester United switch their attention from a Champions League chase to the FA Cup on Saturday when they take on Norwich City in the quarter-final at Carrow Road.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side cruised to their first win since lockdown at the expense of Sheffield United on Wednesday night, but are back in action again just three days later as the two Premier League sides battle for a place in the semis.

United are bidding to lift the FA Cup for a record-equalling 13th time and know that the competition is their last chance to claim domestic silverware this season.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the Red Devils could line up for the contest.

Solskjaer is expected to ring the changes for this match, and with a near-fully fit squad he is able to give a number of key players rests with Champions League qualification still the priority.

Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes started a match together for the first time on Wednesday and, while Pogba in particular could benefit from some more minutes, Solskjaer could leave both out of his starting XI for this match.

Scott McTominay and Fred both sat out against Sheffield United and so could come in again as fresher legs, with Pogba and Nemanja Matic making way from the holding midfield positions.

Anthony Martial became the first United player to score a Premier League hat-trick for more than seven years against the Blades but is also likely to be rested here, along with Marcus Rashford, who assisted two of those goals.

Odion Ighalo and Mason Greenwood will hope to start should that be the case, while a number of other fringe players such as Andreas Pereira, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard are also in contention for forward roles.

At the back, fit-again Eric Bailly and Diogo Dalot could come into the side, while Luke Shaw is likely to be rested with Brandon Williams filling in at left-back.

The fitness of Jones could determine whether United are fully changed or whether Harry Maguire starts again, but Sergio Romero is expected to start between the sticks in place of David de Gea.
