Wednesday's Europa League predictions including Manchester United vs. LASK

Sports Mole provides score predictions for all of Wednesday's Europa League fixtures, including Manchester United vs. LASK Linz.

Shakhtar vs. Wolfsburg (Wednesday, 5.55pm)

Shakhtar Donetsk play host to Wolfsburg in the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie having established a 2-1 advantage from the opening fixture.

Whoever earns a place in the quarter-finals will square off against either Basel or Eintracht Frankfurt.

We say: Shakhtar Donetsk 2-2 Wolfsburg

This has all the makings of a back-and-forth encounter, with Wolfsburg likely to benefit from the lack of crowd. However, despite temperatures expected to be as high as 30C, we feel that Shakhtar will have enough in the tank to see off opponents whose last league outing took place five weeks ago.

Copenhagen vs. Istanbul (Wednesday, 5.55pm)

Copenhagen face Istanbul Basaksehir in the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie looking to respond from the 1-0 defeat which they suffered in Turkey earlier this year.

Whoever progresses on aggregate will almost certainly face Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the competition.

We say: Copenhagen 1-2 Istanbul Basaksehir

While Copenhagen usually perform well on home territory, the current restrictions regarding crowds will only play into Basaksehir's favour. With that in mind, we feel that an early away goal will put the visitors on the way to a comfortable night.

Man Utd vs. LASK (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Manchester United resume their quest for Europa League glory on Wednesday evening with what should be a routine home match against LASK Linz in the last 16.

The Red Devils lead 5-0 from March's first leg and, barring a six-goal collapse at Old Trafford in midweek, they can look forward to the quarter-finals.

We say: Manchester United 3-0 LASK Linz (8-0 on aggregate)

United have played more games against Austrian sides without defeat in all European competitions than they have against teams from any other nation, scoring 22 goals and conceding just one. Five of those goals came in a one-sided first leg and, even accounting for squad rotation, we can only see them adding to their aggregate lead.

Inter Milan vs. Getafe (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Five months later than originally intended, Inter Milan and Getafe face off in the last 16 of the Europa League at the VELTINS-Arena on Wednesday evening.

The tie will now be a one-legged affair on neutral soil in Gelsenkirchen after the original meeting between the sides in March was called off by the coronavirus pandemic.

Either Rangers or Bayer Leverkusen await the winners off this match in the quarter-finals of the condensed tournament, which will be played out over the next three weeks.

We say: Inter Milan 2-0 Getafe

Had this game been played when originally intended in March, Getafe would have fancied their chances of pulling off an upset. The Spanish club will still give it a real go, of course, but the form of the two sides post-lockdown has been massively contrasting and we expect Inter to progress.
