England defender Chris Smalling is seen with strapping around his knee ahead of Saturday's Euro 2016 opener against Russia.

England have reportedly suffered an injury scare ahead of Euro 2016 as defender Chris Smalling was spotted with his left knee strapped.

The Three Lions are limited in their defence given that they have just Smalling, John Stones and Gary Cahill as the only centre-backs in the 23-man squad.

There has been no official word from the Football Association regarding Smalling's fitness, but BBC Sport's Dan Roan tweeted a video showing the Manchester United defender stepping off the team bus with strapping and ice on his left knee.

Roy Hodgson's players were returning to their base in Chantilly after taking part in a second training session of the day.

England's opening Euro 2016 group game is against Russia on Saturday.
