Benfica goalkeeper Mile Svilar admits that he "enjoyed" playing against Manchester United at Old Trafford, despite his side's 2-0 defeat on the night.

Young Benfica goalkeeper Mile Svilar has admitted that he "enjoyed" the experience of playing at Old Trafford last night despite his side falling to a 2-0 defeat.

The 18-year-old was the hero for his side 15 minutes into the contest when he saved Anthony Martial's spot kick, but then gave United an unfortunate lead before the break when Nemanja Matic's shot rebounded off his back and into the net.

"Mixed feelings, of course – a lot of emotions in 20 minutes but I think I couldn't do anything about it, it is luck," Svilar told reporters afterwards. "There was nothing I could do about it but it's still an own goal.

"I enjoyed it a lot, I tried to enjoy the whole game, at my age it's something special. Great fans, great Benfica fans, they were so good. But a pity we couldn't take the three points.

"We played really well, we had a lot of chances but an excellent [David] de Gea as well, so well done to him. As a team, we played really well and I hope we will continue like this in the league and the Champions League as well."

The result was Benfica's fourth defeat from four in the Champions League, while in their domestic league they currently sit third in the Primeira Liga table, five points behind early leaders Porto.
