Crystal Palace's reported move for Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala breaks down due to their ongoing talks with Liverpool's Mamadou Sakho.

Crystal Palace's proposed move for Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala has reportedly broken down.

The Eagles are understood to have made an approach for the out-of-favour centre-back earlier today, despite their ongoing interest in Liverpool's Mamadou Sakho.

Palace have since agreed a £26m deal with Liverpool for Sakho, although they were still considering a move for Mangala in addition to that.

However, Sky Sports News reports that Palace have now ended their interest in the France international, which also has a knock-on effect for Man City.

Pep Guardiola's side are now expected to end their pursuit of West Bromwich Albion's Jonny Evans due to their failure to offload Mangala in time.
