Manchester City 'in pole position to sign Barcelona's Nelson Semedo'

Manchester City are reportedly at the head of the queue for the signature of Barcelona defender Nelson Semedo, with Barca said to be willing to ship out the right-back.

Manchester City are reportedly at the head of the queue for the signature of Barcelona defender Nelson Semedo.

The Citizens added to their ranks at right-back last summer with the arrival of Joao Cancelo, but the Portugal international could supposedly be moved on after failing to hold down a regular spot in the first team.

Likewise, Barcelona are allegedly willing to part ways with Semedo as they look to further their pursuit of Lautaro Martinez, although the Catalan giants have reportedly seen an opening bid for the forward rejected by Inter Milan.

According to Sport, Semedo has garnered plenty of interest from clubs in Europe, but Pep Guardiola's side are leading the race for the 26-year-old.

However, the report also suggests that the two sides are yet to reach an agreement for the right-back, and it is unclear as to whether Cancelo will be included as part of a deal.

Semedo has chalked up 29 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions this season, and will see his current deal at Camp Nou expire in 2022.
