Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola insists that his club are not in the running for Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has insisted that his club will not be moving for Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann in this summer's transfer window.

Griezmann recently revealed that he would be leaving Atletico this summer after five seasons with the capital giants.

Barca are considered to be the favourites for the France international, although it had been suggested that City were also prepared to activate his release clause, which drops to £104m on July 1.

Guardiola, though, has said that the Premier League champions, who will face Watford in the FA Cup final on Saturday, "cannot afford" to sign the 28-year-old.

"People of Barcelona, don't worry guys, we are not going to buy Griezmann, we cannot afford it. The people at Barcelona don't need to worry, we are not interested," Guardiola told reporters.

Griezmann, who played a key role in France winning the 2018 World Cup, has scored 133 goals in 256 games for Atletico in all competitions.
