David Silva: Third title "the most special" after tough year

David Silva posts a heartfelt message on social media reflecting on a "tough year" off the field, which he says makes Manchester City's title win all the more special.

Manchester City midfielder David Silva has reflected on the "most special" title triumph of his career following a difficult few months.

The Spain international took time away from playing earlier in the season following the premature birth of his son Mateo, finding himself in and out of the squad.

Silva was still hugely influential in Man City's third Premier League success in the space of seven seasons, however, and he believes that this latest one - secured thanks to Manchester United's defeat to West Bromwich Albion on Sunday - is "the most special" yet.

A heartfelt message on the 32-year-old's Twitter page, accompanied by an image of his son, read: "My 3rd league but this one is the most special. Thanks to everyone for supporting me in this tough year."

Silva has scored eight and set up a further 11 in 26 Premier League appearances for City this season.
