Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus insists that he has no problem with playing second fiddle to Sergio Aguero, having started the last two games on the bench.

Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus has insisted that he has no qualms with being behind Sergio Aguero in Pep Guardiola's pecking order at the club.

Jesus has scored 16 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions since joining City in January, but he has started the last two matches on the bench with Aguero selected ahead of him.

Both players have been in fine goalscoring form for the rampant Citizens so far this season, and Jesus stressed that his commitment to the cause would never waver whether he starts or is named as a sub.

"I've always been a professional athlete above all. I always work hard and my head has always been in the right place. I know I've been doing a good job. I'm training hard, no matter if I'm going to play or be a sub. That doesn't change the amount of effort that I am always putting into the training sessions," the 20-year-old told reporters.

"I must continue to train hard, like I always did, and wait for a chance, so that, when it comes, I take it. It's hard to say (if City will end the season unbeaten). The Premier League is a very difficult competition - one of the hardest in the world.

"It's hard to talk about something like becoming unbeaten champions. But we can't deny that we're in a great moment. We're doing on the field everything that our coach asks, and we're playing beautiful football, always scoring lots of goals. That's the most important thing for now."

City are currently eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table having dropped just two points from their opening 11 games.
