Fernandinho: 'City team will be remembered'

Midfielder Fernandinho claims that the current Manchester City team will be remembered in 100 years' time if they can break a number of Premier League records.

Midfielder Fernandinho has called on Manchester City to make one final push to break a number of records in the Premier League.

City have already been crowned as champions but with three matches remaining, Pep Guardiola's side can still record the highest-ever points total and score the highest number of goals.

Fernandinho got on the scoresheet in City's 4-1 win over West Ham United on Sunday, and the Brazilian wants to maintain their high standards to ensure that the team will be remembered in 100 years' time.

The 32-year-old told reporters: "It's a fact, we have a clear chance to break those records and we have to go for it. Otherwise it doesn't make sense to play football any more.

"We have three games and have the chance to break most of the records and we're going to do that. It helps us to keep our performance and play the same way as we have all season. In 100 years it will be remembered that Manchester City in 2017-18 broke all those records and played amazing football."

City face Huddersfield Town, Brighton & Hove Albion and Southampton in their remaining games.
