Manchester City have moved to the top of the Premier League table with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Bournemouth.

Charlie Daniels gave the home side the early advantage with a stunning effort into the bottom corner via the underside of the crossbar, but Gabriel Jesus soon got City back on level terms.

The closing stages of the game descended into chaos as Raheem Sterling scored 90 seconds after added-on time was due to finish, before the winger was handed a second yellow card for his celebration.

12.01pmHello, and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage of the match in the Premier League between Bournemouth and Manchester City.

12.03pmIt only seems like yesterday when the new Premier League season got underway but already, we are preparing to go into an international break. It means that each of the 20 clubs will be looking to end August on a high, and both Bournemouth and Manchester City have contrasting ambitions ahead of the game at the Vitality Stadium.

12.06pmWhen the fixture list came out in August, Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe would have expected to register a minimum of four points from games against West Bromwich Albion and Watford, but the Cherries have suffered back-to-back defeats without scoring a goal. They emerged victorious from an EFL Cup fixture at Birmingham City in midweek but as far as the league is concerned, the pressure is well and truly on to ensure that they do not end the month with no points on the board.

12.08pmAs for City, their 1-1 draw with Everton on Monday night has increased the importance of three points being recorded from this encounter. It is still early days in the season, but City have already gifted rivals Manchester United a two-point head start and failure to get the better of Bournemouth would leave United with the opportunity to create a sizeable gap at the top of the standings.

12.09pmAnyway, without further ado, let's cracking with the team news from the south coast, starting with the home team.

12.09pmBOURNEMOUTH XI: Begovic, Mings, Cook, Ake, A.Smith, Daniels, Surman, Arter, Gosling, King, Defoe

12.10pmBOURNEMOUTH SUBSTITUTES: Boruc, B.Smith, L.Cook, Fraser, Mousset, Ibe, Afobe

12.10pmMANCHESTER CITY XI: Ederson, Danilo, Kompany, Otamendi, Mendy, Fernandinho, Sterling, De Bruyne, Silva, Bernardo, Jesus

12.11pmMANCHESTER CITY SUBSTITUTES: Bravo, Stones, Aguero, Mangala, Delph, Sane, Toure

12.14pmFirst of all, let's take a look at Bournemouth as Howe hands a first Premier League start to Jermain Defoe, who has had to remain patient over the first two weeks. The veteran forward comes in for Benik Afobe, while two other alterations see Tyrone Mings and Dan Gosling replace Ryan Fraser and Jordon Ibe. It looks like Bournemouth will play a 3-5-2 formation for this game.

12.17pmPep Guardiola has also decided to make numerous changes to the City starting lineup, the most notable one seeing Sergio Aguero drop to the bench and Raheem Sterling being handed a start. Bernando Silva also begins a City match for the first time, as does Benjamin Mendy who makes his debut. Danilo also comes back into the team, with Kyle Walker, John Stones and Leroy Sane either not involved or on the bench.

12.20pmHEAD TO HEAD! Today's match represents just the 11th time in which these two teams have faced each other in a competitive match, with Bournemouth only getting two draws on the board. As far as the Premier League fixtures between the teams are concerned, City have won all four fixtures, scoring 15 goals and conceding just the one.

12.23pmPREDICTION! We expect Defoe to make a difference in the Bournemouth attack, but City should be too strong this afternoon. Even without Aguero, they are still overloaded with talent, and we are backing City to run out 3-1 winners, with Gabriel Jesus getting on the scoresheet. You may recall that the Brazilian broke a metatarsal on this ground earlier this year.

12.27pmHere comes the two teams to a warm welcome from both sets of fans. The sun is also out on the south coast so all in all, everything is rather pleasant. That may change once the opening whistle goes...

1 minBournemouth get us underway.

4 minRumour has it that Aguero responded to being placed on the bench by remaining on the coach and not taking part in the warm-up. He's not a happy bunny.

It's been a competitive start at the Vitality Stadium, but no chances have been created by either side.

5 minThis would have been an excellent goal from Bournemouth. King does superbly on the halfway line and plays in Smith down the right. The wing-back cuts a low pass back to King but his effort is well blocked by a City defender.

9 minCity are yet to have the ball in Bournemouth's final third. It's been an impressive start from the home side. I'm not so sure that they will be able to maintain it but for now, they are controlling this contest.

13 minGOAL! Bournemouth 1-0 Manchester City (Daniels)

13 minIf you are going to break your team's duck for the season, this is how you do it. Daniels has scored with an absolute thunderbolt of a shot from the left-hand side of the penalty area. Ederson had no chance as the ball hit the underside of the crossbar before finding the bottom corner. Bournemouth lead and it is fully deserved.

15 minCHANCE! City are finally offering something in the final third and from a corner, Otamendi sends a free volley well wide of the post from 12 yards out. Had that fallen to an attacking player, it may have been 1-1.

19 minCHANCE! What a chance for 2-0! Surman delivers an exquisite cross for Defoe, who gets between Otamendi and Mendy, but his volley from 12 yards is superbly kept out by Ederson.

21 minGOAL! Bournemouth 1-1 Manchester City (Jesus)

21 minCity are back on level terms through Jesus. After the visitors take a quick free kick, Silva receives the ball and plays it through to Jesus, who pokes the ball into the bottom corner after holding off the defender.

23 minBOOKING! Ake mis-controls the ball around 40 yards from goal and Jesus capitalises. However, Ake trips the striker and should probably be sent off but instead, the referee gives him a yellow card.

25 minCHANCE! City should be ahead. Mendy volleys a cross across the six-yard box where Jesus is waiting, but he slashes at his volley and the ball goes wide. What a match!

28 minCHANCE! The visitors are absolutely rampant. Silva is pulling the strings and he sets up Danilo on the right-hand side of the penalty area, only for the full-back to fire his shot too close to Begovic.

30 minI'm not so sure how Bournemouth can stay on level terms for much longer. City are looking sublime going forward. David Silva is everywhere. We are only half-an-hour through this game but we could have easily had five goals and a sending off.

32 minCHANCE! Bernando Silva looks odds-on to score his first City goal, even when having support either side of him. The summer signing decides to take the shot on, but it effectively ends up being a pass straight into the gloves of Begovic.

37 minNo more opportunities to speak of, but City are cranking up the pressure. A ball has just been played across the face of the box but no-one was there to add the final touch. Bournemouth need to find a way of getting out of their own final third.

40 minIt would be a minor victory if Bournemouth can reach half time on level terms but they have been dealt a blow here. After making an important clearance, Ake is down receiving treatment and I would be surprised if he carries on. The former Chelsea man landed awkwardly.

44 minCHANCE! Ake is carrying on but the pressure continues to come from City. Jesus drags the ball into the path of Fernandinho who is denied by a fine save at the near post by Begovic.

45 minThere will be two minutes of added-on time.

45+2 minHALF TIME: Bournemouth 1-1 Manchester City

1.19pmThe half-time whistle goes at the Vitalty Stadium and somehow, we are only at 1-1. Bournemouth were outstanding for the opening 20 minutes, but City should be in front by now. There are plenty more goals left in this one.

46 minCity get us back underway.

48 minBournemouth look rejuvenated at the start of this second half, but they still have to be careful to avoid conceding a second. If City take the lead, you feel that they are could run away with this game.

51 minCook stakes his claim for the strongest tackle of the new season as he wins the ball in a meaty challenge with Jesus. However, while the referee did not award a foul, it's an overly-aggressive tackle and on occasions, players have been sent off for less.

55 minCity are beginning to build a head of steam but they are yet to create an opportunity in this half. Bournemouth deserve huge credit for that, but the home side must remain organised at the back.

56 minBOOKING! King leads a break-away for Bournemouth and it results in Kompany taking the decision to bring him down around 40 yards from goal. Easy decision. David Silva has also being cautioned for dissent.

61 minWOODWORK! What a chance for Bournemouth! Arter does well down the left before teeing up King, who fires a first-time effort against the post from around 14 yards out. It's unlucky, but the forward should have scored.

64 minIt can't be too much longer before the introduction of Sergio Aguero. It sounds as if he has shown his petulant side already this afternoon but as it stands, City need him.

66 minSUBSTITUTION! Here he comes, with Aguero replacing Bernardo Silva.

67 minBOOKING! Otamendi follows Kompany into the book for a foul on Defoe on the touchline. I think it is more for the tottering up of fouls, rather than for that particular indiscretion.

71 minSHOT! We are into the final 20 minutes on the south coast. If there is going to be a winner, I would stick with City but don't write Bournemouth out of this just yet.

Fernandinho has just forced Begovic into a relatively comfortable save from 20 yards out.

72 minCHANCE! It's Aguero's turn to get a shot on goal, but he drives his effort too close to Begovic from 14 yards.

73 minSUBSTITUTION! Bournemouth finally make their first alteration, with Benik Afobe replacing Defoe.

74 minWOODWORK! Otamendi hits the post! The Argentine was given the chance to get a free header on goal from about eight yards out after meeting a corner, but his effort struck the woodwork and bounced into the grateful hands of Begovic.

79 minBOOKING! Another booking for City as Mendy pushes King as he attempted to surge forward on the halfway line.

82 minLess than 10 minutes to go now. Can Bournemouth hold on to what would be a fantastic result? City continue to press, but the home side still look lively on the counter.

82 minSUBSTITUTION! A second switch for City sees Leroy Sane replace Jesus.

84 minCHANCE! The ball somehow finds its way across for Silva who should score from 10 yards. However, pressure from Daniels leads to the Spaniard firing over the crossbar.

86 minSHOT! Arter is booked for a late challenge on the edge of the box and it gives City plenty of options to get a shot on goal. However, rather than De Bruyne, it's Aguero and the Argentine sends his effort wide.

90 minThere will be five minutes of added-on time. There may be a little bit extra because Guardiola and Howe are having a row on the touchline.

90+2 minSHOT! A corner is only half cleared to Sterling on the edge of the penalty area but he directs a volley about 20 yards over the bar.

90+3 minBOOKING! Now Sterling goes into the book for a foul on Arter.

90+4 minSUBSTITUTION! Lys Mousset is on for Afobe, who has picked up an injury while challenging for a high ball with Kompany.

90+5 minBOOKING! Adam Smith is booked for a foul on the touchline.

90+7 minGOAL! Bournemouth 1-2 Manchester City (Sterling)

90+7 minUnbelievable. Moments after Bournemouth break and King forces Ederson into a save, back come City as Sterling sends a deflected effort into the corner. We were 90 seconds over the allotted five minutes.

90+10 minRED CARD! terling has been sent off for his celebrations. He jumped into the crowd.

90+11 minFULL TIME: Bournemouth 1-2 Manchester City

2.40pmWhat a finish. What a match. The full-time whistle goes at the Vitality Stadium and City have claimed a huge three points. Bournemouth have every reason to be frustrated given the timing of the goal, but City won't care. They now sit top of the Premier League table.

2.41pmThat will be all from Sports Mole for this match. Thank you for joining us this afternoon and we hope that you can stick around for the rest of the Premier League action which is coming your way. Goodbye for now.
