Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Aston Villa

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's EFL Cup final against Aston Villa.

Manchester City will be looking to win the EFL Cup for a third time in succession when they face fellow Premier League side Aston Villa in the final of the competition on Sunday afternoon.

The Citizens have won the tournament in each of the last two seasons and will be determined to secure another piece of domestic silverware at this stage of the campaign.

Pep Guardiola's side should enter the match full of confidence having recorded a 2-1 win away to Real Madrid in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash on Wednesday night.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the League Cup clash in the English capital.

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Leroy Sane has been on the sidelines since injuring knee ligaments against Liverpool in the Community Shield back in August. The Germany international has recently returned to first-team training, though, and could be available for selection at some point in March.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscular fatigue
Possible return date: Unknown

Aymeric Laporte recently made his recovery from a long-term knee issue, but the centre-back limped off the field against Madrid on Wednesday night. Guardiola said after the match that the Frenchman's latest setback is due to the amount of time that he spent on the sidelines, and it is currently unclear when he might be available to return.

MAN CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

City have no suspension concerns ahead of the EFL Cup fixture.
