Wigan Athletic took on Manchester City in the fifth round of the FA Cup at the DW Stadium aiming to claim an unlikely third consecutive win over the Sky Blues in the tournament.
City dominated the opening half, but they found themselves in trouble just before the break when Fabian Delph was shown a straight red card for a lunge on Max Power.
Pep Guardiola's charges continued to force the issue despite being a man down, although they were dealt a hammer-blow 11 minutes from time when Will Grigg broke away on the counter to fire his side into the quarter-finals.

7.03pmAt the back, Pep has also brought in Danilo, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte in defence, while Fabian Delph will be starting at left-back tonight.
7.05pmAs for the home side, Paul Cook has made three key changes for this clash as Callum Elder, David Perkins and Gary Roberts come into the team. The visitors will be starting with the prolific Nick Powell and Will Grigg in attack.

7.08pmThe two clubs come into this clash knowing that Wigan have had the upper hand over City in the FA Cup in recent years. Wigan have beaten City twice in a row in the tournament. The Latics beat City in the final in 2013 and also in the away encounter of their quarter-final fixture the following term.
7.09pmCity find themselves in a polar-opposite position coming into the game compared to a few years ago, though. Guardiola's side have lost just twice in 41 matches in all competitions this season and are still chasing a historic quadruple.
7.10pmSuch is the club's belief in that challenging chase, Guardiola has again fielded a strong side in the cup. One key man to watch tonight is Aguero, who has notched 16 goals in 17 FA Cup games for City since his debut in the competition in January 2012. The Argentinian has also scored six times in his last four starts in the FA Cup. The frontman is just two goals away from 200 for City too.
7.12pmThis contest comes ahead of a looming League Cup final for the Sky Blues as well, meaning progression into the quarters tonight could provide some added momentum heading into Sunday's clash at Wembley with Arsenal.

7.16pmRaheem Sterling doesn't feature in the squad here tonight and somebody will have to step in to mimic has recent form in the cup. Sterling has been directly involved in nine goals in his last nine FA Cup starts, scoring three and providing six for his teammates.
7.17pmThe fact that Guardiola has left Phil Foden, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Brahim Diaz on the bench perhaps suggests that he wants this game over early tonight, which could leave him with the chance of introducing his youngsters a little later in the contest.
7.19pmGuardiola's men produced a fascinating performance last time out in the Champions League, as they dismantled Basel 4-0 away from home last week. Goalscorers Gundogan and Bernado Silva produced standout performances in that game and will be heading into this tie full of confidence.
7.21pmThis fixture pits the best attackers against the best defence across the top four English footballing leagues. City have scored an unrivalled 79 league goals, while Wigan have the best defensive record after conceding just 18 goals in 30 matches this term.
7.23pmGabriel Jesus is back in training after a knee injury, but this game has come just a touch too soon for the Brazilian, who could perhaps scrape the bench for City's League Cup final at the weekend.
7.25pmWigan have enjoyed a standout season in League One this term, but do come into this contest off the back of consecutive defeats against Southend and Blackpool, both via two-goal margins.

7.34pmNot that City will be too concerned, but the previous time Wigan suffered defeat for two games in a row, the Latics hit back with a 3-0 victory. Goals haven't been a problem for Wigan either this year, the club has scored at least two goals in their last four FA Cup fixtures.
7.36pmClaudio Bravo has been all but condemned to cup fixtures following the arrival of Ederson. The Chilean will be hoping for a solid performance tonight, especially against Grigg who is known for his prowess both in the air and on the deck.
7.38pmCity might have suffered those previous two defeats against Wigan in the cup, but there are few at the club who carry the scar of that final misery in 2013. This City side is much changed and bang in form heading into this match.

7.39pmApart from those two FA Cup wins. City have dominated Wigan across their previous six meetings. The Sky Blues have beaten the Latics on those four other occasions across all competitions without conceding a goal and scoring nine.
7.41pmMan City have managed to keep a clean sheet in their last three away matches against Wigan in all competitions. The first competitive match between these two teams came in the FA Cup in 1971 when Wigan were a non-league side.
7.43pmPREDICTION! We have just over 10 minutes to go until kickoff and it's time for a prediction. Wigan have been impressive in League One this term, as their monumental defensive statistics suggest. City, however, have been almost freakish this term and the strength of their starting XI suggests Guardiola's attacking intent tonight. The Sky Blues are likely to have too much for this Wigan side and I'm backing them for a 3-0 victory away from home.
7.45pmGuardiola suggested in the build-up to this clash that he almost joined Wigan as a player earlier in his career. The coach has insisted that his side will be taking one game at a time despite Sunday's coming final with Arsenal and understands Wigan's attacking potential too:
"Of course I am concerned because I saw Wigan's game against Bournemouth. I think every season in the FA Cup there are a lot of surprises but the players need to not think about next Sunday's final and need to prepare for Monday as well as possible."
7.47pmAs for the home coach, Cook has told his players to believe in themselves and take something from what will be a fantastic atmosphere at the DW:

The German possesses great pace and has profited so many times with balls in behind this term. His presence ensures that Wigan will not be able to press too high, giving the likes of Gundogan and Silva space to work in.

3 minCLOSE! A comfortable opening for the visitors who move the ball about with ease in the early minutes. Bernado pulls out into space on the right channel where he crosses into the middle for Aguero. The striker might just do better, as he heads over the bar under pressure from Byrne.
4 minByrne goes into a hefty one with Aguero, giving City a free kick which is taken short. The away side seem happy just to knock possession about at the moment, awaiting some sort of mistake from the Latics.
5 minByrne gets down the flank for the first time tonight and he aims to win a corner off Delph, but the ball deflects kindly and City win the goal kick.
6 minCLOSE! City lead a break and the ball is soon fed into the path of Gundogan. The German drives into a pocket of space on the edge of the box before winding up a shot. Luckily for Wigan, Walton does well to get down low and tip the shot away from the bottom corner.
7 minGrigg is just showing some early signs of what he is about, as the lone striker wins a cheap free kick off Laporte. The frontman has a rather thankless task tonight as he aims to hassle this City back line when the ball goes long.
9 minWorrying glimpses already from the visitors, who this time link up between Sane and Silva down the left, allowing the Spaniard to break inside and cross. Aguero receives the ball inside the area, but his control lets him down and Wigan clear the danger.
10 minCHANCE! Best chance of the game now as Wigan almost grab a lead. Byrne does excellently on the right and turns the ball in towards goal. City make a real mess of things and the ball breaks kindly for Roberts. The Wigan man can't quite adjust his feet in time and Bravo scrambles off his line to gather the danger.
12 minCLOSE! Wonderful work from Wigan again. Roberts puts pressure on Danilo, who shanks a terrible pass back towards Stones. Grigg is able to nip in and steal the ball before driving towards goal. The frontman goes for a shot from the edge of the box, which whistles into the side netting.
13 minCity have looked comfortable other than a couple of moments where Danilo has given the ball away cheaply. Pep looks rather frustrated on the touchline as Kompany warms up alongside him.
15 minWigan do not look put out by the task at hand and they too are moving the ball nicely at the moment. The home fans are right behind them and the DW is full of song early on.
17 minStill City continue to probe inside the Wigan half, but nothing coming just yet. Sane has looked most threatening, although Wigan have pressed cleverly and been compact in front of the box.
19 minByrne has been impressive so far. Sane looks to deceive the right-back with a bit of trickery, but the defender stands up well to make the interception. They have a long way to go, but the Latics look solid after the opening 20 minutes.
20 minCLOSE! Danger from the hosts once more... Byrne does brilliantly to break from full-back and he plays in Powell who accepts a one-two with Grigg. The former Manchester United man doesn't see the overlap of Roberts and instead thunders a shot straight into Stones on the edge of the area.
22 minBurn is spared after he gives the ball away poorly to Gundogan, who tries to feed Bernado Silva. The playmaker can't quite bring the ball under control, though, leaving Wigan to settle for the goal kick.
24 minPure frustration now for Powell, who is forced to trounce off the pitch with some sort of issue. He then comes back on so we'll see how he goes in the next couple of minutes.
26 minPatience in abundance now from City who move the ball on the edge of the Wigan area. The home side have done superbly so far not to break rank.
27 minCLOSE! City turn in a corner which is flicked on by Gundogan into the middle. It drops kindly for Laporte, who scuffs his effort and Wigan can hoof away the danger. The centre-back should have scored, really...
27 minSUBSTITUTION: That's a sad sight for the neutrals as Wigan are forced to replace Powell, who is switched for Swansea City loanee Jay Fulton.
29 minCHANCE! City are starting to settle into a threatening rhythm and the ball is fed into the middle by Delph, where Stones leaps highest in order to win the knockdown. The ball falls to the feet of Fernandinho, who somehow blazes over the bar from just a matter of yards out.
30 minWigan continue to do all of the dog's work on the edge of the area with great effect, but you wonder just how long they can hold out as City tighten this stranglehold inside the home half.
32 minCook is out barking orders from his touchline area as City press forward once more. Byrne, who has been outstanding so far, does some smart work again to oust Sane, but the ball soon comes back with Guardiola's men getting the carousel going once more.
34 minSHOT! Gundogan is starting to get himself into a few more advanced positions, this time as he breaks beyond to receive a pass from Bernado. The German finds himself at a tight angle and flashes a shot across goal and over at the far post.
36 minWigan will need to make use of whatever chances they have and this time Massey comes up short. The playmaker pulls wide to receive a wonderful through-ball from Perkins, but his cross into the middle is a poor one with both Grigg and Roberts lurking in the danger zone.
38 minCity have had so much of the ball, although Walton has just had the one real save to make in this contest. Cook will be happy with his side's defensive exploits, but the hosts have to find out a way of giving their defenders some reprieve.
40 minAguero comes alive on the edge of the area and the striker almost turns the cutest of passes around the corner to release Sane beyond the last man, but Dunkley has other ideas and makes a great challenge to thwart the danger.
42 minFor the first time this evening City are able to lead a charge on the counter through Sane, although once again Wigan show great determination and are able to stifle the break and gain enough men back to hold up the winger. City being consistently frustrated at the moment.
43 minByrne has really shone in the first half and he does exceptionally well again to keep out the away side. Gundogan picks up the ball in space and reads the run of Sane, but the full-back is equal to it and steps in to cut out the pass at the vital moment.
45 minBLOCK! Aguero comes in off the right flank and opens up to crash a shot towards goal, it's looking dangerous until Elder throws his body in front of it to make a good block before Walton is tested.
45+1 minSAVE! Wonderful save from Walton. Aguero shows more great quality to wrong-foot Burn in the middle before lashing an effort towards the top corner, leaving the Wigan stopper to leap up and make a wonderful save.

45+2 minA huge controversy at the end of the first half. Delph goes in hard on Perkins, with his trailing foot taking out the Wigan man. It does look like a dangerous tackle and the referee decides to give him a red. The referee initially had the yellow in his hands but decided to change his mind.
45+3 minHALF TIME: WIGAN ATHLETIC 0-0 MANCHESTER CITY
8.45pmSo the referee calls time on an intriguing first half of football, but what scenes just before the break. Guardiola is absolutely livid and has continued his argument with Cook and a number of match officials down inside the tunnel.
8.46pmIt's hard to know where to stand on this decision, really. It's a high challenge and arguably out of control, although there's not too much contact other than with his trailing foot. Video images continue to show Guardiola losing his rag down the tunnel.
8.48pmCity have dominated the first half, although they haven't quite found their cutting edge. Wigan have a had a couple of chances, but up until the red card the visitors would have more than fancied their chances of taking control of this game in the second period.
8.58pmSo the teams are back out. City have made a change as Walker comes on to replace Sane and help his side out at the back going into this second half.
46 minWe are back underway in Wigan, this should be a delightful second half. This game is perfectly poised now...
48 minDespite being a man down, City are sharing most of the possession already in the second half. Walker comes at speed down the right, but cannot find the required quality to pick out Aguero in the middle.
50 minAguero shows a good turn of pace as he aims to get beyond Burn following a cute piece of skill. Once more, though, the Wigan centre-back is up to standard and can make a strong challenge on the striker.
52 minDanilo has switched over to the left in the second half, and this time he cuts inside and drives a shot towards goal with his right. Elder does well, though, getting a good block in before the shot troubles Walton.
54 minSUBSTITUTE: Wigan make their second change of the night as Roberts is replaced by Jacobs, who has had a strong season already in League One this term. He is certainly a goal threat for the hosts.
56 minCity do not appear too disjointed despite the red card, but Wigan's tactical approach has been spot on thus far. The game has become a tad more industrious after the break. Wigan are continuing to go about their work with real energy here.
59 minYELLOW CARD! Massey gets a little too eager to challenge Danilo and goes into the book for a high foot. City fans are baying for blood and want the numbers evened out.
61 minWigan almost go to sleep as Perkins gives the ball away cheaply. Silva feeds possession out to Walker on the overlap, but his cross into the middle is missing the quality necessary and Wigan gain a throw in on the other side of the pitch. It's likely going to take a moment of brilliance to open this game up.
63 minCan Wigan hold out? It seems like it so far. Aguero drifts smartly off his man and Silva spots the move with a lovely pass from deep. The City frontman should do better, though, as a poor touch allows Burn to step in and make a crucial challenge on the edge of the area.
65 minSUBSTITUTION: A big change here 25 minutes from time, as Silva is replaced by Kevin De Bruyne in the middle.
66 minThe Belgian is involved straight away as he collects the ball and drives a cross towards the front post for Aguero, leaving Wigan to get a foot in and concede the corner.
68 minCook has changed formations a few times tonight and this latest switch has perhaps left them a little light in the middle. City continue to move the ball on the edge of the area, where Danilo strikes an effort into the body of Perkins.
69 minYELLOW CARD! Still no way through for City at the moment, although the visitors have essentially setup camp on the edge of the box. Fulton goes in hard on Danilo and despite winning the ball he goes into the book.
71 minYELLOW CARD! Cards are notching up now, this time as Elder slides late on Bernardo Silva over on the right channel. He was just a little late with that one.
72 minThe ball is turned in smartly by De Bruyne with both pace and some dip, but nobody attacks it and Walton can gather down low unchallenged.
73 minCHANCES! De Bruyne beats his man and cuts the ball back for Aguero, who can't find the touch to get his shot away first time. The home side eventually clear but only as far as Danilo, who bustles down the left and flashes a ball across the face of goal, with Aguero just centimetres away from getting a crucial toe to it.
75 minDe Bruyne has changed this game instantly. Again the playmaker comes in from the right and finds space in the middle, although Wigan get lucky with his cut-back and somehow scramble the ball away from danger.
77 minWhat can Wigan do here? They've defended stoutly for the best part of this much, but a moment of magic could change this in an instant.

9.51pmWhat have we just seen here? Wigan knock out Manchester City to end their hopes of a quadruple this term. Grigg was brilliant all game and capped off his performance with a huge goal for the Latics, it was a superb finish too.
