Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers describes his side's performance during their 3-3 Champions League draw with Manchester City as "brilliant" and "magnificent".

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on his side following their 3-3 draw with Manchester City in the Champions League this evening.

The hosts led three times at Celtic Park, but on each occasion they were pegged back by the Premier League leaders as Pep Guardiola's side eventually earned a point.

The result came off the back of a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Barcelona on matchday one, and Rodgers hopes that the team's display will restore any confidence lost by the result at Camp Nou.

"I can't criticise the team, but there's always elements we can be better in. We were brilliant, the pressing and the energy. Every time we went forward we looked like we could score," he told BT Sport.

"Apart from the Barcelona game these players have been operating at a high level this season. Now, to do it against that team, it was a magnificent performance.

"How we defend is what we've been working on. All my teams have played with that intent. We have players that are developing and evolving all the time. Tonight, how they played and performed was top class. That will give them confidence going forward."

The draw means that Celtic are the first team to prevent City from winning since Guardiola took charge.
