Liverpool reportedly slap a £137m price tag on Philippe Coutinho during negotiation with Barcelona.

Liverpool reportedly slapped a €150m (£137m) price tag on Philippe Coutinho when Barcelona made a formal approach for the player.

The Brazil international handed in a transfer request this week after the Merseyside club rejected a Barca bid worth £90m plus add-ons.

The Reds are said to have rejected Coutinho's transfer request, which was submitted directly to the club by email, rather than through the traditional channel of the player's representatives.

Meanwhile, the attacking midfielder has been omitted from today's Premier League opener between Liverpool and Watford, with the club claiming that he is injured.

Coutinho is said to have already agreed personal terms with Barca prior to submitting his transfer request, according to the Daily Record.
