Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits that he is unsure if Emre Can will agree a new contract at the club.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he does not know if Emre Can will sign a new contract, but has insisted that he will not be sold this summer.

The midfielder has just one year remaining on his current deal, and as it stands, he has failed to agree fresh terms with the Merseyside outfit.

Juventus have reportedly been sniffing around, but Klopp is not worried about losing the German international before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

"So far there is no signing and that is the situation," the Liverpool Echo quotes Klopp as saying. "We are still in talks. Do I think it is too cool that we didn't fix it so far? No, to be honest. But it is all okay at the moment and we have to take it like this.

"His mind is not elsewhere. It is an important contract for him at his age. I am 100% sure that we don't sell the player now in this situation. Not a player from the first team line-up for sure. He will play here for the next year that is for sure. All the rest we have to see."

Meanwhile, Liverpool are preparing to take on Hoffenheim in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier in Germany on Tuesday night.
