Joel Matip returns from an adductor injury to make the Liverpool starting XI in the Boxing Day meeting with Swansea City.

Jurgen Klopp has made four changes to the Liverpool starting XI for Tuesday evening's meeting with Swansea City.

Joel Matip returns from an adductor injury to start in the heart of defence for the first time in a month.

The centre-back was sidelined for the past six fixtures and replaces Dejan Lovren in the side, with the Croatian on the bench.

Georginio Wijnaldum replaces the injured Jordan Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold is in for Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain comes in for Sadio Mane.

Simon Mignolet and Philippe Coutinho make their 200th appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, with the Brazilian donning the armband in the Boxing Day game.

Swansea, meanwhile, have drafted in Wayne Routledge, Leroy Fer and Oliver McBurnie to start as they bid to climb off the foot of the table.

Liverpool: Mignolet; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Klavan, Robertson; Can, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Coutinho, Firmino
Subs: Karius, Gomez, Lovren, Milner, Lallana, Mane, Solanke

Swansea City: Fabianski; Naughton, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson; Carroll, Mesa, Fer; Routledge, Ayew, McBurnie
Subs: Nordfeldt, Van der Hoorn, Rangel, Dyer, Clucas, Sanches, Abraham
