How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Liverpool

Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up for Sunday's Premier League clash against leaders Liverpool at Anfield.

Tottenham Hotspur face the daunting task of a trip to Premier League leaders Liverpool on Sunday when they travel to Anfield in a repeat of last season's Champions League final.

The North Londoners have suffered a torrid run of form of late, winning just two of 12 games across all competitions before Tuesday's much-needed 5-0 Champions League triumph over Red Star Belgrade.

Spurs have not won an away game in any competition all season either, while their last victory on the road in the Premier League came in January.

Mauricio Pochettino's side will understandably be underdogs for their trip to Merseyside, then, and here Sports Mole looks at how they could line up for the contest.

With captain Hugo Lloris the only definite absentee following his sickening injury against Brighton & Hove Albion, Pochettino's main decision ahead of this match surrounds which formation he will field against the Reds.

The Argentine returned to three at the back for last weekend's match against Watford and, while that did not work exactly as planned, he may have taken heart from Liverpool's struggles against Manchester United playing a similar formation at Old Trafford.

The attacking wing-backs and split forwards seemed to take Jurgen Klopp's side by surprise last weekend, and Spurs have the players to emulate those tactics on this trip to Anfield, with Son Heung-min and Harry Kane leading the line having starred against Red Star Belgrade.

The biggest decision may come in midfield, where Dele Alli appears to have regained his starting spot ahead of Christian Eriksen, although Erik Lamela was another standout performer in midweek and Giovani Lo Celso is now fit again.

Tanguy Ndombele will hope to keep his place in the middle of the park alongside Harry Winks, although Liverpool's dynamism could see Pochettino lean towards Moussa Sissoko once again.

Ryan Sessegnon could finally be fit to feature in come capacity for his Spurs debut, but it is unlikely to be from the start, with Danny Rose expected to edge Ben Davies to a place in the XI.
