Mohamed Salah says that he is "very happy" to have finished as the Premier League's top scorer for 2017-18 after notching his 32nd goal against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has said that winning the Golden Boot in record-breaking fashion is an achievement that he is proud of.

The Egypt international struck the opener for the Reds in their 4-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on the final day of the season, taking him to 32 Premier League goals in his maiden campaign on Merseyside.

Salah's strike into the bottom corner lifted him above Alan Shearer, Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo as the first player to net 32 times in a single 38-game season.

Speaking to Sky Sports News after confirming his status as Golden Boot winner for 2017-18, the ex-Chelsea and Roma ace said: "This is very special.

"It's always in my mind to help the team to win games, now we are in the Champions League next year and I have won the award, so I am very proud. I am trying to improve every year so I am very happy. It's special to break the record here."

Harry Kane finished runner-up in the scoring stakes with 30 goals - his best-ever tally in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt.
