Manuel Pellegrini moving on from last season

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says that the events of last season's title run-in will have no bearing on his side's clash with Liverpool on Monday.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has said that the events of last season's Premier League title run-in will have no effect on his side's clash with Liverpool on Monday.

City edged out Liverpool in the race for top spot last season after winning their final five games.

Pellegrini told reporters: "I cannot know what happened inside Liverpool or if they will be affected by last season or not.

"My way of thinking is that last season is finished, for our team it is finished. I suppose that also for Liverpool it is finished."

City's league success gave the club their second title in three seasons.
