Former Real Madrid director Predrag Mijatovic believes that the La Liga giants and Champions League finalists must not "go crazy" over Liverpool's Mohamed Salah.

Former Real Madrid director of football Predrag Mijatovic has urged the La Liga giants not to "go crazy" over Mohamed Salah.

The Egypt international has impressed in his first season at Liverpool, scoring 44 goals in all competitions and being named Premier League Player of the Year.

Salah will be one of the first names on Jurgen Klopp's team sheet when the Reds face Real in the Champions League final on May 26, and multiple media reports have suggested that Los Blancos are eager to sign the 25-year-old.

However, Mijatovic has urged Real not to rush into moving for Salah, highlighting his "very strange" career trajectory and claiming that the Spanish club already have several young attacking players in their ranks.

"First of all we have to say that [Salah] is having a great season, he has all the qualities that football requires today," the 49-year-old told AS.

"But it must also be said that he is a player who has had a very strange [career] trajectory - he played well at Basel, Chelsea bought him and it did not work, in Rome he played well but not at this level, and now, all of a sudden, [his quality] comes out.

"I do not know if Madrid should go crazy for him at this moment, because they have important young players, like [Marco] Asensio or Isco, and we do not know what's going to happen with [Gareth] Bale.

"I do not know how Salah's situation is, but now he's not a player I'd go crazy for, you do not know how he'll adapt. Madrid is different, a club where it is difficult to succeed."

Former Yugoslavia international Mijatovic spent three years as a player at Real, scoring 30 goals in 90 appearances between 1996 and 1999.
