Luis Suarez thanks Liverpool fans

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez thanks Liverpool fans for the reception he received in his first match against his former club since leaving for Camp Nou in 2014.

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has praised the Liverpool fans for the reception they gave him during today's friendly at Wembley.

The Uruguayan was facing his former club for the first time since leaving for Camp Nou in 2014, but was on the wrong end of a 4-0 thrashing by Jurgen Klopp's side.

However, Suarez still described it as a "special day" and admitted that he was touched by the fans' reaction to him.

"I have always felt the affection that the Liverpool fans feel for me. The respect they show for me means I did things well there and made my mark," he told Barcelona's official website.

Suarez played 75 minutes at Wembley as Barca slumped to the heavy defeat.
