Pepijn Lijnders, who quit Liverpool in January for a four-month stint at Dutch club NEC, is reportedly in line for a return to Anfield.

Liverpool are reportedly contemplating a move for former coach Pepijn Lijnders following his exit from Eerste Divisie club NEC.

The 35-year-old left his role as part of the Reds' backroom staff abruptly in January to begin his own managerial career in the Netherlands.

Jurgen Klopp admitted at the time that he was "gutted" to say goodbye to Lijnders, who spent time as Under-16s boss at Anfield before being promoted to first-team development coach.

After losing assistant Zeljko Buvac earlier this month, The Telegraph reports that Klopp will attempt to persuade the Dutchman to return to Merseyside after leaving NEC.

Nijmegen missed out on promotion to the Eredivisie last weekend, finishing third in the 20-team league.
