Liverpool are reportedly unable to recall Loris Karius from his loan spell at Besiktas after first-choice Alisson Becker picked up an injury against Norwich City.
It has been claimed that the Brazilian will spend at least six weeks on the sidelines after picking up a calf injury while taking a goal kick during the 4-1 win over the Canaries on Friday night.
There has been subsequent talk of Liverpool recalling Karius, who is in the latter half of a two-year loan spell in Turkey, in order to compensate for Alisson's absence.
However, according to the Liverpool Echo, this move will not happen because there is no get-out clause in Karius's contract with the Turkish side.
Moreover, Besiktas are obligated to buy Karius for a further £7.25m, on top of the initial £2.25m loan fee, in 2020 if Karius meets particular performance criteria.
Karius has not played a game for Liverpool since suffering one of the worst individual performances ever seen in a Champions League final against Real Madrid in 2018.
