Liverpool striker Christian Benteke: 'I'm fit and ready for Chelsea showdown'

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke insists that he is fit and ready to play in this Saturday's showdown against Chelsea.

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke has insisted that he is fit and ready for this Saturday's Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgium international was a doubt after he picked up a knock during last weekend's 1-1 draw against Southampton.

However, the 24-year-old has now declared himself fit and available for Liverpool, who are short up front due to the absence of injured duo Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings.

"I'm good," Benteke told the club's official website. "I just felt something during the game against Southampton last week. Now it's behind me and I'm looking forward to the Chelsea game.

"Injuries are part of football but I'm trying to do everything I can to be fit for the rest of the season and to play every game. I try to stay as long as possible [at Melwood] to be really fully fit."

The Reds are currently ninth in the Premier League table after three wins, five draws and two defeats.
