A report claims that Leicester City have failed in an £18m bid for Sevilla midfielder Steven N'Zonzi.

Sevilla have reportedly rejected an £18m bid from Leicester City for midfielder Steven N'Zonzi.

The Frenchman joined Sevilla from Stoke City in the summer of 2015 following six seasons in England.

The 27-year-old helped his Spanish club land the Europa League title during the 2015-16 campaign and also made 28 appearances in La Liga.

According to the Sunday People, Leicester made an offer of £18m for the central midfielder, but that was quickly rejected by Sevilla, who will lose Ever Banega next month.

N'Zonzi has also previously represented Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League.

Juventus' Argentinian forward Paulo Dybala (L) vies with Sevilla's defender Coke during the UEFA Champions League Group D football match Sevilla FC vs Juventus at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium in Sevilla on December 8, 2015.
