Leeds United will reportedly challenge Premier League interest from Southampton in the race to sign League One defender Rob Dickie from Oxford United.

Leeds United have reportedly joined Southampton in the race to sign League One defender Rob Dickie.

The 24-year-old has been a stalwart in Oxford United's impressive campaign as they challenge for promotion to the Championship.

As a result of a string of impressive performances this season, Dickie has reportedly become a target for several top-flight and Championship sides.

According to Football Insider, Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds are closely monitoring the defender while Southampton and Burnley also hold interest.

Dickie is only contracted to the Kassam Stadium until next summer so the U's may be forced to cash in rather than avoid missing out on a fee.

In addition to impressing in the league, the defender also earned plaudits for his performances against Newcastle United, West Ham United and Manchester City in cup competitions.

Dickie has made 44 appearances in all competitions for Oxford this season including 34 starts in the league.
