Report: Marcelo Bielsa being considered for Everton job

Report: Bielsa being considered for Everton job

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa is under consideration to become Everton's next manager as speculation grows over Marco Silva's future, according to a report.

Everton may reportedly turn to Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa should they ditch Marco Silva after just one season at the club.

Silva is under increasing pressure at Goodison Park following an underwhelming campaign, which has seen the Toffees lose 12 and draw six of their 27 league matches, while also being knocked out of the FA Cup by Millwall.

Saturday's 1-0 loss to Silva's former club Watford leaves Everton ninth in the table and at risk of dropping into the bottom half should a couple of teams below them win their games in hand.

After spending big in the summer to strengthen their squad, however, Everton chiefs are expected to stick with the Portuguese until at least the end of the season.

According to The Mirror, Bielsa is a shock candidate to succeed Silva should the Merseysiders swing the axe, having worked wonders at Leeds in his first campaign in English football.

United are top of the Championship and on course for a return to the top tier for the first time in 15 years.

Bielsa made headlines last month when admitting to spying on opponents in training before matches, but that has supposedly not put Everton off and they believe he can have similar success at Goodison.
