Serie A club-by-club transfer latest: August 21

Sports Mole takes a look at the latest transfer news and speculation from Serie A.

The new Serie A season begins next weekend and clubs across the country are busy making sure that they are ready for the big kick off.

Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at the latest rumours from Italy and the deals that have already been completed this summer.

AC Milan

It's looking ever more likely that Mario Balotelli will be leaving AC Milan this summer, following widespread reports that he is in talks with Liverpool over a possible move. A fee between the clubs of £16m is believed to have been agreed for the striker. Another player linked with an exit from the San Siro this week has been Philippe Mexes, who is said to be wanted by Manchester United.

Meanwhile, the Rossoneri are believed to be interested in signing Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier and they have been linked with a move for Shakhtar Donetsk's Douglas Costa, but they could face competition from Arsenal for the Brazilian.

Atalanta

Atalanta defender Guglielmo Stendardo has been linked with a move to Sampdoria. The 33-year-old has previously played for Juventus and Lazio and has been at the Nerazzurri since 2012.

However, they are said to be interested in Juventus defender Luca Marrone, but it is unclear whether Massimo Allegri would allow him to leave the Bianconeri this summer.

Cagliari

Brazilian midfielder Adryan could be on his way out of Cagliari by the end of the transfer window, despite only joining the club in January from Flamengo.

The 20-year-old's agent has revealed that talks have taken place between his club and Leeds United and that he is interested in a move to Elland Road.

Cesena

Cesena have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of River Plate midfielder Carlos Carbonero, with reports claiming that the Colombian international has rejected a move to the newly-promoted club.

In other news, the Seahorses are reportedly close to signing Roma striker Marco Borriello. The 32-year-old has struggled to break into Rudi Garcia's side and had a spell on loan at West Ham United last season.

Chievo

Finland international Perparim Hetemaj has extended his contract with Chievo this week. The midfielder has been at the Gialloblu since 2011 and has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal.

The club have played down recent reports linking them with Fiorentina midfielder Andrea Lazzari, but goalkeeper Christian Puggioni could be leaving if they can complete a deal for Genoa shot-stopper Albano Bizzarri.

Empoli

Riccardo Saponara has been linked with a move to Empoli. The 22-year-old is currently at AC Milan and it is believed that the Rossoneri are willing to loan him out to his former club.

Gaby Mudingayi is another player said to be on the Azzurri's list of targets. He joined Inter on loan in 2012, before making the deal permanent a year later, but due to injuries he was only able to make one appearance in Serie A last season.

Fiorentina

Fiorentina have completed the loan signing of Marko Marin from Chelsea. The German international spent last season on loan at Sevilla, helping the Spaniards to win the Europa League.

Meanwhile, Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fernando is reportedly set to undergo a medical with the club after a fee was agreed for his transfer and Montpellier midfielder Benjamin Stambouli is also thought to be on their list of targets.

Genoa

In the past few days Genoa have been strongly linked with Fiorentina defender Facundo Roncaglia. It is believed that they will face competition from West Ham United, who are also said to be interested.

However, Daniele Portanova could be on his way out of the club, with reports suggesting that he could be part of a swap deal with Palermo involving Claudio Terzi and Andrea Mantovani.

Hellas Verona

Hellas Verona are believed to be leading the chase for Marco Donadel. The 31-year-old was on loan at the club last season and he is widely expected to leave his current club Napoli this summer.

The club have also been linked with a move for midfielder Nico Brandenburger, who currently plays for Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach.

Inter Milan

Rumours of Fredy Guarin's exit from Inter Milan have continued to gather pace and the midfielder has again been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur. The latest reports coming out of Italy have claimed that if the Colombian does leave for White Hart Lane, then Roberto Soldado could be moving in the opposite direction as part of the deal.

Elsewhere, Porto defender Rolando is believed to have turned down a move to Galatasaray, in favour of a return to the San Siro. The 28-year-old spent last season on loan at Inter, but as yet no agreement of a possible transfer has been reached.

Juventus

There haven't been any new arrivals in Turin this week, but reports have suggested that Juventus have enquired about the availability of Monaco striker Radamel Falcao. They have also been linked with a move for Matija Nastasic, who has struggled with injuries at Manchester City.

The Bianconeri are also thought to be in the market for an understudy to goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, with Marco Storari said to be close to a move to Sassuolo. It has been reported that Milan keeper Christian Abbiati, who previously spent a season on loan at the club, is a possible target.

Lazio

Lazio are expected to wrap up the signing of Santiago Gentiletti in the coming days. The Argentine has been at San Lorenzo for the past two seasons, but he has undergone a medical in Rome ahead of a reported €2.5m (£2m) move to the Stadio Olimpico.

The Biancocelesti are also said to be in talks with Hajduk Split for youngster Franjo Prce, but midfielder Alvaro Gonzalez may leave the club amid reported interest from Southampton.

Napoli

It was announced yesterday that Jonathan De Guzman had completed his move to Napoli. The Dutchman's capture may have a knock on effect for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who is now expected to stay at Old Trafford despite being heavily linked with the club all summer.

Rafael Benitez will surely be expected to add another defender to his squad before the transfer window slams shut following Federico Fernandez's move to Swansea City this week. Eduardo Vargas could also be leaving Naples in the near future, with reports claiming that he is about to join Queens Park Rangers.

Palermo

Palermo were strongly linked with Bryan Ruiz earlier in the summer, but it appears that the Sicilian outfit may lose out on his signature. The Costa Rican international now looks likely to move to Werder Bremen, after their general manager confirmed that a deal is close.

Elsewhere, reports this week have claimed that the club are interested in signing Rennes defender Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik, but they could lose Davide Di Gennaro, who has been linked with a move to Leeds United.

Parma

Ruben Botta has become the latest player to be linked with a switch to Parma this summer. The 24-year-old is reportedly available for loan by his club Inter Milan, but Torino and Hellas Verona are also said to be interested.

They also continue to be linked with Ezequiel Schelotto, who spent last season on loan at the club, while River Plate defender Carlos Carbonero is rumoured to be a target.

Roma

Having brought in a number of new players last month, it has been a quiet August in the transfer market for Roma. However, they are reportedly leading the race to sign Manchester City defender Micah Richards and are thought to be preparing a bid for his teammate Stevan Jovetic.

In other news, rumours of Mehdi Benatia's departure continue to dominate the back pages, with Manchester United said to have made a £24m bid for the defender and Mattia Destro could also be leaving, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly in talks with the Italian international.

Sampdoria

Sampdoria have sent Federico Piovaccari to Eibar for the season. The striker joined the Blucerchiati in 2011, but this is now the fifth time that he has been loaned out by the club.

Meanwhile, they have been linked with a move for Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates. It is thought that he will be involved in a deal that could see Sergio Romero move in the opposite direction. They are also reportedly interested in Inter Milan defender Matias Silvestre, who has struggled for playing time at the San Siro.

Sassuolo

It is believed that Sassuolo have had a bid rejected for Genoa midfielder Juraj Kucka. The Slovakian international's contract is set to expire next summer and it has been reported that is keen for a move away from his current club.

Goalkeeper Marco Storari has continued to be linked with a switch to the club, but as yet nothing has been confirmed regarding a transfer.

Torino

Tornio have not added to their squad this week, but they have been linked with a move for Udinese defender Marco Faraoni, who re-joined the Bianconeri earlier this summer following a year at Watford.

Alessio Cerci was in the news this week after a tweet from his Twitter account on Monday seemingly announced a move to Atletico Madrid. However, the message was quickly deleted and the Italy international has since claimed that he was hacked.

Udinese

Udinese have sent two players out on loan to Spain this week. Jaime Romero has joined Real Zaragoza, while Alexandre Coeff has moved to Mallorca for the season.

With striker Nicolas Lopez expected to leave in the near future, there has been increased speculation that Duvan Zapata will be brought in from Napoli to replace him.
