Ipswich Town are reportedly considering sacking manager Paul Lambert and replacing him with Neil Warnock.

Lambert has seen the Tractor Boys slip to ninth in the league table with the League One side winning just one of their last eight games and taking only four points from a possible 24 to drop out of the playoffs.

Ipswich's most recent setback was a narrow 1-0 home defeat to playoff hopefuls Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night.

League leaders Coventry City visit Portman Road on Saturday and according to The Mirror, Warnock could be in the dugout by then.

Warnock's last managerial role was with Championship side Cardiff City before being relieved of his duties in November last year.

The 71-year-old successfully guided the Bluebirds to the Premier League in the 2017-18 season, Warnock's eighth promotion as a manager.

Lambert, who took charge of Ipswich in October 2018, only penned a new contract in January, tying him to Portman Road until the summer of 2025, however reports suggest that the 50-year-old's tenure with the Tractor Boys could soon come to an end.
