Shane Long, John O'Shea remain with Ireland despite injury worries

John O'Shea and Shane Long stay with the Republic of Ireland squad for the Euro 2016 playoff with Bosnia-Herzegovina despite both players struggling with injuries.

John O'Shea and Shane Long remain in the Republic of Ireland squad for the Euro 2016 playoff with Bosnia-Herzegovina despite being currently sidelined through injury.

O'Shea is banned for Friday's first leg and may miss the second with a hamstring problem. Long meanwhile is still doubtful after suffering an ankle injury.

Shay Given was cut from the squad on Sunday after failing to recover from a knee injury, while Ipswich Town forward David McGoldrick has also been dropped after picking up a groin strain.

Greg Cunningham is cut from the squad along with Eunan O'Kane, Paul Green and Anthony Pilkington, plus strikers Anthony Stokes, Adam Rooney and Simon Cox.

Newcastle goalkeeper Rob Elliot, Reading defender Paul McShane and Brentford midfielder Alan Judge have minor injuries and will be assessed by their clubs in the early part of the week.
