Hull City boss Mike Phelan reportedly puts pen to paper on a deal to become the club's permanent manager having been in caretaker charge since July.

Hull City boss Mike Phelan has signed a contract to become the club's permanent manager, according to reports.

Phelan has been in caretaker charge of the club for the entire season after former manager Steve Bruce stepped down in July just three weeks before the start of the new campaign.

The Tigers won their first three matches in all competitions under Phelan despite beginning the season with only 13 fit players, leading to the former assistant being named the Premier League Manager of the Month for August.

According to Sky Sports News, the 54-year-old has finally agreed to take over as boss, with official confirmation from the club expected later today.

The role would be Phelan's first permanent job in management having spent the majority of his career as an assistant and coach.
