Sheffield Wednesday have defeated Huddersfield Town 2-0 in today's Championship clash at the John Smith's Stadium.

The game saw action in the first few minutes, as Miguel Llera was able to deny Nakhi Wells with a last-ditch tackle in the Wednesday box.

Gary Gardner was next to threaten just after 15 minutes for the Owls, as his half-volley only just missed the target.

Huddersfield responded with dangerous chances of their own, Wells and Adam Hammill threatening Chris Kirkland's goal.

However, the away side were the ones to break the deadlock just before the break when Jeremy Helan was able to strike a ball past Alex Smithies. The Terriers made several shouts for handball in the run-up to the goal, but it stood.

Just after the restart, Wells was able to latch onto a pass from Joe Lolley but his effort was wide, while on the hour mark, the Terriers were able to break following some Wednesday pressure, with Kirkland having to pull off a save against Danny Ward.

Midway through the second half, however, the Owls doubled their lead. Jacques Maghoma was able to turn away from Peter Clarke and fire a shot into the bottom left corner.

Adam Clayton came close to pulling a goal back for the home side right at the end, but his 20-yard shot two minutes from time struck the crossbar.

Meanwhile, at the other end, Wednesday saw a third goal chalked off for offside just a minute later, much to the disappointment of Chris Maguire.
