Hibernian confirm that they will appeal against Neil Lennon's five-match ban, which was issued by UEFA for his conduct during a Europa League qualifier.

Hibernian have announced that they will lodge an appeal against the five-match ban issued to manager Neil Lennon by UEFA.

The former Celtic boss was hit with the punishment today for "acts of violence against the referee" during the first leg of Hibs' Europa League qualifier against Brondby last month.

Lennon was sent to the stands after arguing against a disallowed goal for Jason Cummings during the 1-0 defeat in Denmark, and subsequently served a touchline ban for the return leg, which ended in Hibernian's exit on penalties.

In response to the latest ban, the Scottish club released a statement, which read: "Hibernian are aware of the sanction imposed by UEFA on head coach Neil Lennon and are in the process of appealing the suspension. The club will be making no further comment at this stage."

Lennon became Hibs boss in June, three months after leaving Bolton Wanderers.
