Brian Rice hopes Hamilton will learn from Rangers drubbing

Accies are second bottom in the table

Hamilton boss Brian Rice revealed he was inspired by Rangers in their 5-0 home defeat on Sunday.

Accies were 4-0 down at half-time before they steadied the ship after the break but still ended up second bottom in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Ahead of the trip to Aberdeen on Wednesday night, Rice insists he will learn from the Rangers defeat and is looking for his players to do the same.

He said: "I am inspired. I am really inspired.

"I went home last night and sat and watched the game.

"Mainly I was looking at my own team to see what we did wrong and what we didn't do properly, then I was watching Rangers, their movement, their passes, what everybody was doing and 'wow, this is great, I love that'.

"I will use that. People use Barcelona and Manchester City, what I saw off Rangers yesterday, there are bit of that, that I will use. Players need to see that.

"Now I need to try to get a little bit of that into my club.

"We are not going to be like Rangers, I am not kidding you on there, but we need to get to a bit of standard that they have set.

"I need to get my players to believe we can do a bit of that in a short period of time."

Rice will keep an attack-minded strategy as he bids to take the Lanarkshire club away from the relegation zone.

He said: "If you sit on the edge of the box and park the bus as they say and lose a goal in the first five minutes, what do you do? You have set your team up to defend.

"We set the team up to try to attack and Rangers were too good for us, they were exceptional.

"Now, we made it a lot easier for them than it should have been, I accept that but the way they moved, kept the ball and passes the ball is a lesson we need to learn from them.

"We are up at Aberdeen, I saw them at St Johnstone and they are a very strong team, they are a goal threat but every team poses different problems.

"We know what problems Aberdeen will cause us, we need to try to nullify that."
