Croatian forward Ivica Olic admits that he would have moved to the MLS if he knew how his second spell with Hamburger SV would turn out.

Experienced striker Ivica Olic has admitted that he regrets his decision to return to Hamburger SV.

The Croatian re-joined Hamburg on an 18-month contract in January after three years with Wolfsburg and is believed to have rejected interest from the MLS in order to remain in the Bundesliga.

The 36-year-old has struggled for regular action since January, however, and has said that he regrets not taking up the opportunity to move to North America.

"I listened to my heart back then. I love the club and the city. I call the president my friend. But if I had known how things would turn out, I'd have left for the United States," he told reporters.

Olic, who has scored 20 times in 104 appearances for Croatia, has represented the likes of Bayern Munich, Dinamo Zagreb and CSKA Moscow during a well-travelled career.

Ivica Olic celebrates scoring Croatia's first goal against Cameroon on June 18, 2014.
