Marcelo Djalo, who has spent his entire career to date in the lower divisions of Spanish football, is said to be close to agreeing a switch to Championship side Fulham.

Fulham are to sign Marcelo Djalo after reportedly agreeing personal terms with the Spanish defender, despite reservations from the coaching staff.

The 23-year-old is currently on the books of Spanish second-tier side Lugo, where he has spent the past 12 months following previous spells with Real Madrid and Juventus.

Fulham are said to have identified the centre-back via their statistical analysis team and will fly him in for a medical later this week.

According to Sky Sports News, however, certain members of the Cottagers' backroom staff believe that he will not be a worthwhile signing.

Djalo failed to make any first-team appearances for Madrid or Juve, instead spending his entire career to date in the lower divisions of Spanish football.
