France captain Hugo Lloris warns his side that they must be "ready to suffer" against Belgium when the two sides meet in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

France captain Hugo Lloris has warned his side that they must be "ready to suffer" at the hands of Belgium during their World Cup semi-final on Tuesday night.

Belgium have won every game at this summer's World Cup so far - including a quarter-final victory over Brazil - and boast one of the strongest squads in the tournament with their 'golden generation' beginning to live up to expectations.

Lloris is under no illusions regarding the size of the challenge in front of his side, but insists that they will be ready for the test as they bid to reach a third final in the space of 20 years.

"They are an exhaustive team, they know how to do everything. I think the Belgian team is the most exhaustive team in all aspects of the game during this tournament - they are strong everywhere," Lloris told reporters at a pre-match press conference.

"They have everything they need to be a great team and and they are a great team. It is a fantastic generation and in order to beat them we will have to play a great match.

"We know there are going to be difficult moments and we'll have to be ready to suffer. But we will be ready because we have an extremely good state of mind and it is the semi-finals in the World Cup. It is an opportunity in our careers and we have to grab it with both hands."

Should France beat Belgium then they will face either England or Croatia in the World Cup final.
