How France could line up against Croatia

Sports Mole looks at how France could line up in Tuesday's UEFA Nations League clash with Croatia.

France will be looking to move onto six points in their UEFA Nations League group when they continue their 2020-21 campaign against Croatia on Tuesday night.

Les Bleus beat Sweden 1-0 in their League A Group 3 tournament opener on Saturday, with Kylian Mbappe scoring the only goal of the contest just before the half-time break.

Didier Deschamps's side will be eyeing another three points against Croatia in what is a repeat of the 2018 World Cup final, which France won 4-2 in Moscow to lift the trophy for the second time.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the world champions could line up on home soil.

POSS FRA XI vs. CRO (UPD)

Mbappe has been forced to withdraw from the squad after testing positive for coronavirus, opening the door for Anthony Martial, fresh from an excellent season for Manchester United, to start in the final third of the field.

There could be a further change in attack, meanwhile, with Wissam Ben Yedder potentially replacing Olivier Giroud.

France lined up in a 3-4-1-2 against Sweden last time out, and Deschamps could have another look at the formation against Croatia on Tuesday night.

Antoine Griezmann missed a late penalty in Solna but will keep his spot, while the absences of Paul Pogba and Tanguy Ndombele should give Adrien Rabiot another chance to impress in midfield alongside N'Golo Kante.

The much-coveted Dayot Upamecano made his international debut last time out and could retain his spot as part of a three-man defence, while 17-year-old Eduardo Camavinga will be hoping to make his first outing for the world champions, potentially off the bench.

Paris Saint-Germain are due to start their 2020-21 Ligue 1 campaign against Lens on Thursday, meaning that Presnel Kimpembe could drop out, allowing Clement Lenglet to come into the starting side.
