Patrice Evra insists that he will be able to continue playing for club and country until he is 40 years old.

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has claimed that he has no intention of retiring until he reaches the age of 40.

The 34-year-old, who now plies his trade for Juventus, will be heading into this summer's European Championships as France's first-choice left-back.

Evra believes that his fitness will allow him to play at the top level for club and country for another six years.

"I will leave Les Bleus when they have no more need of me," Evra told L'Equipe. "So long as I'm still playing football, I want to play for France too. I want to remain at the top level.

"My models are Javier Zanetti, Ryan Giggs and Paolo Maldini. They all stopped at 40. So as long as I have the legs, I'll keep running."

Evra spent eight years at United before joining Juve in 2014.
