Henderson: 'We want to keep up momentum'

England midfielder Jordan Henderson has said that the Three Lions want to keep up their momentum following the 6-1 win over Panama on Sunday.

Henderson featured in England's biggest ever win at a major tournament, in which Harry Kane rose to the top of the scoring charts and John Stones netted two headers alongside Jesse Lingard's strike.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Liverpool skipper Henderson said that Gareth Southgate's charges are looking to build on their two wins so far.

"Our thinking is we are ready to take on any opponent," the 28-year-old said. "I'm not too sure what might happen in the draw later on, I'm not thinking that way. We are just concentrating on beating Belgium.

"We want to keep winning, we want to top the group, we want to keep this run going. If you want to do well in the World Cup, you have to defeat good teams anyway so it doesn't really matter who you get.

"There is no chance of us taking our foot off the pedal. We want to build on our performances so far, we want our level to keep improving, to keep getting better. It gives you momentum, it gives you rhythm. You want to keep that going right the way through the tournament."

Should England and Belgium draw on Thursday evening, the winners of Group G will be decided by each team's disciplinary record in the tournament.
