England midfielder Fabian Delph: "The dream is still alive"

Fabian Delph admits that he is 'dreaming' of lifting the World Cup with England after making it to the semi-finals of the competition.

Versatile midfielder Fabian Delph has insisted that he was always confident England could make a big impression at the 2018 World Cup.

Despite low expectations on the eve of the competition, the Three Lions have made it through to the semi-finals and now have a winnable match against Croatia - ranked eight places lower - to come.

England are into the final four for just the third time in their history, but Manchester City ace Delph is 'dreaming' of going one better than the 1990 crop by emulating 1966's winning generation.

"We knew what we were capable of," he told Sky Sports News. "I think after the Costa Rica game I said how impressed how I was with the boys and what I thought we could accomplish.

"We've managed to do that, so the dream is still alive and the end goal is still there for us. Hopefully, we can keep pushing."

Delph has played in three of England's five World Cup matches, including the final 13 minutes against Sweden in the quarter-finals.
