England break several World Cup records in their 6-1 thumping of Panama on Sunday afternoon.

Gareth Southgate's England side broke several records for their country following their 6-1 win over Panama in the World Cup finals in Russia.

Harry Kane scored a hat-trick while Jesse Lingard and John Stones chipped in with goals to secure qualification to the knockout stages of the tournament for England as they demolished Panama at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.

The victory follows on from England's 2-1 win over Tunisia on Monday in which Kane scored a brace, helping him to lead the chase for the Golden Boot.

Two consecutive victories for England means that they have equalled the record for their best ever World Cup start, matching Ron Greenwood and Sven-Goran Eriksson's sides in 1982 and 2006.

The result is also England's biggest ever World Cup win, doubling the scoreline from their 3-0 win over Denmark in the 2002 tournament.

Kane's hat-trick makes him just the third England player to ever achieve the feat, following Sir Geoff Hurst's 1966 World Cup winning performance and Gary Lineker's treble against Poland two decades later.
