Alan Shearer has criticised England manager Roy Hodgson for the positions in which he deployed Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy during tonight's friendly with Portugal.
Playing primarily as central strikers, Kane and Vardy were the Premier League's top two goalscorers last season, finding the net 25 and 24 times respectively.
However, against the Portuguese, Hodgson opted to play the pair in wide roles, with captain Wayne Rooney through the middle.
It prompted ex-England frontman Shearer to tweet: "If you're going to play @HKane & @vardy7 then at least play them as centre forwards & not wingers. Or what's the point?"
The Three Lions play their first match of Euro 2016 versus Russia on Saturday, June 11 in Marseille.
